I married my husband May 22, 2010. On the day of my wedding, I weighed 174 pounds and was wearing a size 10 dress that I had NO ROOM in. I did not feel fat on my wedding day. I absolutely felt beautiful but was uncomfortable in my skin. I just felt fluffy and toxic. I made no effort to lose weight for my wedding. In fact, I gained 8 pounds the year before my wedding day. On the day of my wedding, I tried on my dress and could not wear a bra because I as coming out of the top of my dress. None the less, I had an amazing photographer and felt beautiful on my wedding day. After all, I was marrying my highschool sweetheart so I was over the moon with happiness.A lot has changed since our wedding and here we are almost 4 years later and both my husband and I are 40 pounds thinner. Not only do we look incredibly different but we feel like completely different people. We are not the party animals we were four short years ago. We have new values and appreciation for our bodies, life, and each other. Never in a million years did I think I would become one of those people that worked out all the time and read personal development books. I mean come on...... I hated reading. But here we are, two completely different people. We like the people we are now. We love the people we have become and are more in love now than ever before. We decided to renew our vows because not only do we feel better in our skin, but we are new people. And these new people have different values and we felt it important to express those values through a marriage ceremony and re-commit ourselves to each other and our new life. Is it crazy that I actually had butterflies while looking out over the balcony at the site of my wedding renewal just minutes before saying my vows? Our wedding renewal took place Jan 23, 2014 and was very different than our original wedding. We chose to escape to Los Cabo Mexico and have a romantic beach wedding like I had always dreamed about. It was very intimate and the most romantic day of my life. I have never felt so beautiful. This time I was not wearing a super expensive dress. Instead I was wearing a short white cotton dress I picked up at the good will for three dollars. This wedding was not about a big party or lavish gifts. It was purely about us. It was perfect. After the ceremony, we had a beautiful dinner in a private bungalow on the beach with two amazing friends which also happen to be our Beachbody Coaches. How perfect that the very people that helped us find Beachbody and our new life are the same people to witness us renewing our marriage. Dinner was amazing and when we returned to our room, we found that the hotel had left petals on our bed and a drawn bath. I wont get into any further details but the night ended very well.
I can honestly say the best part about my Beachbody transformation is that I no longer have "thigh rub". I know other ladies know what I am talking about. The days of having to use baby powder if I want to wear shorts or a skirt are gone! And On a hot day, baby powder only worked for a short while. I had to keep a travel size one in my backpack purse. Remember when those were in? Well it's when I was in high school over 10 years ago. I had thigh rub problems way back then. In fact, I don't remember it ever not being an issue. I remember days when I forgot baby powder and literally had scabs from the rubbing. I know I can't be the only person to experience this. But it is a thing of the past which I refuse to re-visit. I just picked these shorts up at the thrift store for $3 and they look and fit better than any of the $50 shorts I used to buy when I was "thicker". My body and wallet are both loving my transformation. Hard work pays off. And I can kiss the inner thigh rash days goodbye. Over anything else, for this I am most grateful. If you want to know how I did it, read My Story and learn about my Challenge Groups.
Now I think I may be the only woman I know that actually gained weight before her wedding day. In fact I gained about 8 pounds the year before my wedding and about 10 more afterward. Since then I found Beachbody and got started on my transformation. So for shits and giggles I tried on my wedding dress last night and am shocked at how big it is on me. I cannot believe I made zero effort to lose weight or get healthy before my wedding. My husband was also at his biggest on our wedding day. We have both since lost 40 lbs and he has proposed AGAIN! We are renewing our vows to recognize the new life we have built for ourselves. We are not the same people we were on our wedding day. We have not only found the best in each other but the best in ourselves. I can't wait to post new wedding photos. Read about my transformation story and see for yourself that it can be done. You just need to want it!
I started drinking my meal replacement shake, Shakeology, last year to help me lose weight and to reverse some of my medical problems and not only have I done both of those but my hair is getting crazy long. I think it has grown 12 inches this past year. I feel like Rapenzel. My hair is as long as my weight loss journey. Check it out!
Today was a great day at the good will. I found two lovely pairs of heels that fit perfect and are super comfortable. And you can't beat the price I paid just $10 each, woohoo! I totally scored. Love my bargain shopping. I picked then up at the goodwill on Beverly in West LA. I figured Out that the trick is to go to the Goodwill's in expensive neighborhoods. Everybody gives to the goodwill and if you want to get good stuff you got to go where the good stuff gets dropped off.
Not only do I refuse to spend more than $7 on a pair of jeans, I take FREE all day long. A good friend of mine wears the exact same size as me but she is a little more height challenged than me. So those extra inches got me a pair of jeans that fit perfect with my $5 Jessica Simpson heels. That's right, I absolutely shop at the good will. This started while I was losing weight and needed new work pants and refused to pay $60 for work jeans that I wouldn't fit in a few months because I was still losing weight. I started by getting work jeans at Walmart or Target but they were cheap, still cost $25, and fell apart. I wear workbooks as an engineer and am kinda tough with my work jeans. They need to be able to stand my job so I figured I would check out the good will. I found tons of jeans of really great quality. I am talking brands like: express, true religion, blue cult, Abercrombie, seven, etc. Anyone who knows clothes knows those range from $70-$300. All of a sudden my work jeans were cuter than my weekend jeans. Then the light came on! I have blown a ridiculous amount of money on clothes and really have nothing to show for it. I was done! My affair with the mall is DONE!
